P8-Iznyembezi

Izinyembezi Zelanga

simangale sizibukela ilanga
imvula ibikhala ebusweni
ilanga laseRhini belikhala izinyembezi
bekushaya amanzi esihlabathini

izinhlungu zelanga zingapheli
kodwa noko lona belisakhanya
abantu begijima
abantu bevika
ilanga belingasathandi

indlebe yasenhlabathini
iyizwile imvula
lenye ikhanya ilanga
ayizwanga lutho
ibikhala ebusweni
ilanga lidabuke lilale ngenxeba

Tears Of The Sun

We watched the sun in shock
Our faces wet with rain
The Grahamstown sun was crying
There was trouble on the ground.

The pain of the sun would not cease
Through pain it continued to shine
The people ran
The people took cover
The sun had had enough.

The ears of the soil
Heard the rain
The ears of the sun
Heard nothing
Our faces wet with rain
Sun torn apart
Slept in pain.
