“Adieu” by Ajise Vincent
Promised you would come at twilight,
Here I am at dawn, waiting for your return.
You vowed to paddle me past the storm
Here I am, drowning in your extinction.
Enjoyed we many beautiful moments,
Drinking themes of didactic message.
Cum plethora of sonnets and rhythms
From the goblets of poetic lords.
In times past, alphabets mated with punctuations
To procreate inspiring sentences of wit.
Our former was blessed with progenies
That basked in the euphoria of change.
Now, nostalgic pains pity pains ominous.
Barrenness rummages to thought inspire.
Streams of overflow now lick dryness.
For you, my lingo, left without saying adieu.
