“EFUE (Ivy)” by Badmus Jubril
I once watched an ivy
die from too much sunlight
the way god watches his
little sullen creatures die
like lemmings falling
off a marigold sky.
Behind the cross; there
are ciders who ache
from flailing:
Too much of the world
is really a tug at
prosperity and how
hard your cock can rise.
Dirt littering my palms
like residue of small
salvations. In the uppity
north an old chum’s
hair fall off one
by
one
like the trees’ dying resistance
The ferns in the greenroom
are gaudy from orgasm.
